These wines coming from Württemberg are created with meticulous attention to sustainability. For winemaker Leon Gold, that means leaning into biodynamic principles without hesitation and being a hand that supports the fruit’s journey.

Since he was a child, Leon dreamed about growing his own grapes. Founding his own winery in his adoptive home of the Remstal in 2015 as a first-generation winemaker gave Leon the latitude to create his own traditions and beliefs around the craft.

Situated on Keuper layers such as gypsum, reed sandstone, siliceous sandstone, and colorful marl, the vines are kept healthy through Leon’s understanding of Württemberg’s microclimate and what they need from the soil. Results include zippy, living wines full of minerality.

The Wines

2022 Pink Gold Pet'Nat

It’s liquid jubilation. 100% Trollinger from 45 year-old vines macerated on the skins for 1 week, fermented with native yeast, and finished méthode ancestrale. Strawberries and pink citrus hit the palate out the gate, chased by striking minerality on the finish.

2022 White Gold Pet'Nat

55% Riesling and 45% Sauvignon Blanc from 45 year-old vines on siliceous sandstone. Spontaneously fermented with native yeast before bottled méthode ancestrale. It rips with lemon and finishes soft with a touch of sunshine.

2022 Neon Gold

In collaboration with Super Glou, Gold’s Trollinger sees traditional maceration in stainless steel resulting in a herbaceous berry still red. Liter sized.
