Sandwiched right between Burgundy and Champagne, the town of Molesme tends to get lost in the shuffle. Jeanne Piollot grew up on the outskirts of Champagne. Her winemaking parents created two different types of Champagne worked from the two regions. And when it inevitably became time for Jeanne to carry the legacy, their decision to buy vineyards in the in-between land Molesme only made the most perfect sense.
Now created with partner Gennaro De Miccoli, Dame Jeanne’s wines are this moment that crystalizes the strong traditions of the two regions: Sparkling wines are made with historic Champagne insights and in line with Jeanne’s family’s practices of foregoing synthetic chemicals, and still wines evoke the clarity and elegance of Chablis with minimal intervention. Typically, wines are fermented with native yeast.
